For all of our very patient tequila lovers – we may finally have something to whet your whistle. The latest in our ongoing trial collection is No. 4: Agave Spirit. Now, you may be wondering why we would mention tequila if our new spirit is named “Agave.” Don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place for an explanation.
Something that most don’t know is that tequila can only be made in Mexico. Similarly to how bourbon can only be produced in the United States, true tequila can only come from south of the border. This rule was mainly created due to the agave plant. In each specific region of Mexico, different agave plants grow and take on different flavors. This causes the processes that go into making the spirit differ slightly, with each taking on its own unique flavor. Tequila, being the most popular of these, comes from the town of Tequila, which is in the Jalisco region of Mexico.
Our new Agave Spirit was not produced in Mexico; rather, it was distilled right here in Old Town Bluffton! But, just because we can’t call it tequila, doesn’t mean tequila lovers won’t love it. Made from two types of agave plants – Blue Agave and Wild Agave – our Agave Spirit has flavors reminiscent of tequila and can be used similarly in cocktails that are based with the Mexican spirit.
Now, enough with the educational talk. What you really want is to taste it, right?
For a limited time only, you can taste our new Agave Spirit in The Sanctuary, or purchase a bottle to take home with you. But, you might not want to wait; after all, one is never enough.
